“the dream.” is a 2-minute motion graphic animation focusing on stress, expectation, and reward through a series of transitions and visual narratives that help showcase the rush of stressful lucid dreams and the complexity of reality conveyed in them.

To start the idea, I followed the guidelines of using at least 4 transformative sections with keyframe animations. I would then go to various videos and color references in order to understand how to build my concept and its animation process.

I then decided to use the concept of dreams using color and lighting to help symbolize the passing of a day. I moved on to a simple character design on my sketchbook to see a general outlook using the color palettes I chose. I moved on to organizing various steps and thumbnail storyboarding to help outline my animation length and processing with a page summary of all necessary information for the piece.
The song I selected for my animation was Rival & CRVN – Falling [NCS Release] as its lyrics and rhythm pacing matched the idea I was thinking about.
[Note – Since the music was released under NCS, I am able to use the song in my video as long as I credit the music in the description. (Inside Video).]
I also found some sound effects clips to use for parts of my storyboard and final video.
Thumbnail storyboarding was refined to a more distinct storyboard containing clearer illustrations for Ai Illustrator preparation. Assets were then prepared based on refined illustrations using Blender and Ai Illustrator for character-rigging and animating through After-Effects.
Revised Storyboard:
After scanning each piece, I converted the images into a storyboard animation to start visualizing the movement of the characters and key shots.
I moved on to create each individual illustrator file for the different characters and storyboard:
To demo the pieces, I drew each piece and scanned it to use later as a reference during the illustrator process. For each character piece, I rigged each part using After-Effects to animate each motion.
