The interactive piece "Persona" is a collaborative project with my fellow student Chelsea to focus on the idea of “maturity” where the visual narrative and captured movement help guide the audience in learning about the duality of the mind and its growing cycle.
To start off, we decided to create a storyboard sketch of our idea.
Material List:
- After-Effects
-TouchDesigner
-2 Long-Throwing Projectors
-Umbrella
-Webcam

The graphic basis of this piece was a blank canvas filled with ink, a medium that spreads and expands throughout the canvas to cover everything. The story cycles through a series of chaos and reflection. The umbrella we brought is meant to help show the closeness of relationships.
Motion Graphic Section:
To start off the project, I started to create a draft of the motion graphics through After-Effects. I divided up different compositions through Cineware and Graphic effects and keyframes them so their movement aligns with each other.

I sent these demos to my partner for feedback and decided to make some changes. I increased parts of the duration for the middle part (self-reflection) and also included meditative rain music to help simulate the atmosphere. Later on, I used Premier Pro to loop the video and audio for Chelsea to input into TouchDesigner.
After I sent the files to Chelsea, she worked on the Interactive Section of the piece where she included several particles. As she worked on the block coding, I spent more research on YouTube for set-up and troubleshooting for particle and video errors.
During this stage, we decided to split the idea into two versions where one helps symbolize chaotic development while the other contrasts it with calmness.

After proofreading all the files, we split the files to each of our computers in order to display them in the classroom. We used the white side of the classroom wall with the long-throwing projectors as they had an adjustment feature.
